Transcend has introduced the CompactFlash UDMA 7 1000x series, a line of memory cards intended for enthusiasts. The manufacturer claims that the cards can process at least 10.000 reading and writing cycles. Transcend has specified a 160 MB/s reading speed, while the cards should be able to write at 120 MB/s.
The 1000x CompactFlash cards feature toggle mode NAND flash memory chips that are compliant to the CompactFlash 6.0 specifications. The cards support LBA48, feature BCH ECC (Error Correction Code) and read-retry technology to analyze and correct errors during data transfer. Transcend states that its CF memory cards are suited for photography in burst-mode. Thanks to Video Performance Guarantee, video can be written to the cards at speeds of at least 20 MB/s.
Prices start at £65 for the 16 GB TS16GCF1000. The 32 GB TS32GCF1000 costs £120, the TS64GCF1000 with 64 GB costs £240 and the 128 GB TS128GCF1000 is priced £400.
